manifesto
Atypical began with scent.
But it was never only about perfume.
It began with a longing to return to the senses.
To memory.
To instinct.
To presence.Today, Atypical is a sensory practice.
A space for exploration, ritual, and play.
A space where scent becomes a way in.
Into atmosphere.
Into feeling.
Into creativity.
Into a more intimate relationship with the world.
We believe in beauty that breathes.
In creativity without fixed form.
In experiences that feel honest, open, and alive.Because scent can transport.
Soften.
Reveal.
Awaken.Atypical is not about becoming something else.
It is about sensing more fully what is already there.
Sui generis
Of its own kind. In a class by itself. Unique.
Atypical was born from a longing to remember a more authentic way of relating to ourselves and to the world.
One shaped less by noise, expectation, and fixed ideas, and more by presence, instinct, beauty, and the intelligence of the senses.
From the beginning, Atypical has been drawn to the intimate.
To the quiet rituals of everyday life.
To the moments that bring us back into the body.
To the subtle ways scent, touch, atmosphere, and memory can shift how we feel.
We believe the senses offer another way in.
A way of slowing down.
Of paying attention.
Of stepping back into your own skin.
What guides Atypical is not the desire to define people, but to create space for experience, curiosity, and connection.
A space where beauty feels more open.
More instinctive.
Less prescribed.
A space where scent can be explored not only as perfume, but as atmosphere, ritual, memory, and creative practice.
At its core, Atypical is about intimacy.
With self.
With place.
With feeling.
With the unseen things that shape how we move through the world.
That is the ethos behind everything we create.
“ Atypical is an emerging platform where I can more fully express myself and my work. Thank you for your continued support in helping me create space to connect with what was already there.”

Atypical is an evolving sensory practice created by Lucila Zakowicz. What began through scent and natural perfumery now extends into workshops, writing, research, and experimental work, exploring how scent connects with place, culture, memory, and the body.

As my work evolves, my focus is expanding more fully into writing, research, and experimental work. What began through scent now continues across workshops, sensory experiences, and a growing editorial practice. Atypical is becoming a space to explore scent in relation to place, culture, memory, and the body. You can also find me on Substack, where I share reflections, notes, and writing on scent, travel, beauty, the body as territory, and other fields that open space for olfaction, including film, art, and music.

Here you’ll find workshops, digital publications, sensory experiences, and ongoing research around scent. Each one offers a different way into the world of Atypical, whether through making, reading, exploring, or simply paying closer attention.
